(Archive) Climate Heart 2050

A beautiful name and a great metaphor to get us moving. There is no need to fear the future, but something to look forward to!

Instead of shouting about impossibilities and financial constrains, we paint a picture of a society that is more healthy and beautiful. From de-stressing now, to unburdening, changing and enjoying in the future. The first steps? Integrating the food-, city-, smart tech- and transport transitions.

Restoring balance

Population growth in combination with a strive for power and money, creates an imbalance that threatens our health and planet. In other words, our climate heart is in danger. Limits of economic growth have been reached. We need new impulses to satisfy our needs for growth and development. This system has polluted the climate heart's lungs: they are overloaded with green-house-gasses. In turn, this has errupted the earth's heart beat: the food supply is weakened. To get back in shape, a transition is needed: the human-race will have to adapt.

Our vision is getting the climate heart back in shape and it is only a matter of acting and cooperating. We follow nature's principles and show how it can be done.

Climate Heart: the transitions

City-transition: prevent heat-stress, wind-islands, flooding and water-shortage. How? Planning the city like a forest.

Smart tech-transition: robotics and artificial intelligence will support our convenience. It is time not to only create new technology, but to fully embrace it as well.

Transport transition: CO2-neutral transport is silent, locally oriented and autonomous. Personally owned vehicles are history. This leaves much more space for blue and green, so that we can do what we do best: enjoying life.

Food-transition: eating and producing differently, without having to adjust our consumption pattern. Vertical farming, printing food and insects are on our menu. Are you in?

Biomimicry: learning from nature

Nature is sustainable by definition. Therefore, we use the lessons found in nature. The natural system works according a fixed and continuously repeating pattern of change. The form and content of any solution are therefore not fixed in advance, but dependent on context. In this way, nature provides a tailor-made answer to every challenge.
